Does anyone know whether or not it is legal to play the radio at work cause my boss claims it isn't? |

If you mean broadcast radio then no it is not illegal to listen to in at work. Some place have conditions in employment contracts due to the distraction of the radio, but that is a thing to take up with the individual company.
If you mean a scanner that is listening to bands other than (not an exhaustive list), broadcast, CB, Ham. Then yes this is illegal.
If you can get some more info from your boss (ha ha, look at the dictionary definition of boss), post it up and see what answers you get back. |

Its not illegal to listen to the radio, its just that your boss has may have had the standard letter from the PRS (performing rights society) to let him know that they will charge him an arm and a leg for the privalage of letting his employees listen to- Radio 1/Radio 2/Classic Gold (yawn....)/BBC local radio..(bigger yawn)-for a whole year.
Maybe if you start a collection towards the cost, he will let you carry on listening.....

I'm in Aylesbury and considering getting back into CB radio after a lapse of 25 years.
Are you still interested?

Thanks. I have an interest in PMR446 too and only posted the message in this topic because I saw someone else in my locale looking for CB activity. I am already a member of the other forums (maybe not Thunderpole, I'll have to double check).
As for the age of the postings - better late than never.
Regards
